Pictou County Review

A new article has been added to the article directory at Pictou County Search.com.  The new article is about Body Piercing Advice.

Also I have added some temporary submission guidelines for the articles area.  Be sure to read them if plan to submit an article.  They didn’t quite end up where I wanted them so I hope to move them to a better spot soon.
Article submission is not free, however if you contact me through the site I will email you a discount code that will give you up to one year free.

I am also looking into having the business listings downloaded/uploaded to the site.  I have been in contact with the company and hope to hear back by next week.

Highland Shoe Repair has been added to the business list at Pictou County Search.com.

Well the site is live that’s one positive thing about it.  The domain is still being redirected to New Glasgow portal for some reason.  I haven’t figured out how to fix this yet so all links are still going to the wrong site.  If I make the link so it points to the index page like this - http://pictoucountysearch.com/index.php, that may work.  If it doesn’t work hopefully the address will eventually fix itself.

Banners being displayed on the site are currently showing with scroll bars on the side and bottom.  So I am also trying to figure out how to get rid of those.  I’m not sure if it’s my mistake or a problem with the software.

I’m also looking for business owners to test the site.  So if you would like some free advertising use the contact form on the site and you will be able to use all services for free.  You may have to cut and paste or type Pictoucountysearch.com into your address bar to get to the site as the link from this post may not work.

Since Pictou County Search.com started out in 2002 as an online classifieds page it has gone through a number of incarnations.  Well there is yet a new incarnation.  Pictou County Search.com is now a full fledged internet community portal.  The new software includes the following services; business listings, classifieds, events calendar, coupons and articles.

The site is new and I still have a lot of work to do to get it up to speed.  There has also been a problem with the domain name that I have yet to solve.  Previous to this the domain pictoucountysearch.com was permanently redirected to another domain.  Now some of the links seem to be still pointing to that other domain.  While I am working on this problem if you want to view the site you may have to cut and paste or type the link into your address bar http://www.pictoucountysearch.com.

For any local residents who would like to try the site out - get a free upgrade on whatever service you choose.

Lately I have been spending alot of time building Squidoo pages.  So far I have about 20 pages built.  Today I spent about 4.5 hours building my latest page Refurbished Gateway Computers.  i don’t know if it should really take that long.  Hopefully in time I will get faster.  The purpose of this newest Squidoo page (called a lens) is to promote my Tiger Direct affiliate site.  Tiger Direct sells refurbished computers, computer parts and other tech stuff.  And I would like to help them sell some of that stuff so I can make some money.

For some reason I have post it notes everywhere. I never used them before. Then for some reason I bought a package of red, blue and yellow ones. Now I have notes stuck everywhere. It’s like they are replicating.

Anyway here are some of the things I have on my post it notes (that I plan on throwing away now):

• Cap site brown school - that’s all that was there.  I guess I intended to find the internet address for it.  Well I’m still looking.
• A note to make a “free stuff” category at Pictou County Links.com.  I may have done this already, I can’t remember.
• Dr. Brock.com - I’m not sure why I had written that down.  I couldn’t find a website at that address.
• Areogarden, getthegarden.com - I must have seen this one in a commercial.  It’s kinda cool, for growing herbs and bulbs.
• CPP.ca - an insurance website that I must have been looking at.
• Bigchipsforum.com - as usual I have no idea how I found this addy in the first place.  It’s a poker site that ranks other poker sites.

OK This post was meant for the blog at New Glasgow Portal.com but I ran into a server problem. So this is my second in a series of posts researching the preloaded categories that came with the blog.

To start with I did the obligatory Google search for New Glasgow Nova Scotia airport. If you are from around here you will know that the closest airport is in Trenton, Nova Scotia. It is not an international airport. I believe it is considered a regional airport.

Anyway I only got three results that I was happy with and here they are:

1. Town of Trenton website - here I found contact info for Trenton Airport Limited.
2. We Are Pictou County.com - profiles of the Trenton airport and the Halifax International Airport.
3. ProfileCanada.com - this result referred to it as Trenton Municipal Airport.

Well that’s it. I had plans to do more but that server outage caused me to lose all of the work I had already done.

Today’s featured classified ad at Pictou County Search.biz can be found in the category Automobiles and sub category Sport Utility Vehicles.

And that’s all the info the seller left other than the price, which you can find on the site.  I don’t even know what a PW50 is.  I guess who ever is looking for one will know.

Tip: If you would like to post an ad at Pictou County Search.biz classifieds, post as much information about your item or business as possible.  The sections in the classifieds are spidered by search engines regularly.  This will give you a better chance of having a customer/buyer find your ad.
